      In this sequel to the ever popular ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, Anne is now 16 and a teacher in small-town Avonlea. She faces new challenges, including gaining the respect of her students and governing the lively young twins whom Marilla has temporarily adopted. Narrator Shelly Frasier does a good job with this old-fashioned tale, capturing the spirit of breathless, impetuous Anne, as well as that of dry Marilla, busybody Mrs. Lynde, and a cast of other characters around town.       Anne Shirley returns to Avonlea as the teacher at the local school while enjoying her many friends and experiencing the challenges of adult responsibilities. With a brisk pace and pleasant, natural style, O'Malley's voice makes a good match for Anne's sweet-natured temperament and higher energy. The many children's voices tend to sound alike--naòve, young and slightly higher pitched than the adult voices. Older women sound similar, with the exception of Marilla Cuthbert's, whose voice takes on a grainy texture in a lower tone.       The famous red-haired orphan, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES is back, grown up and ready to start her first teaching job at the village school. Her best friend, her adopted mother, and her neighbor all share in her spirited adventures. Liza Ross sounds whiny as the eccentric Mr. Harrison, but she does well with most of the other parts. However, the listener may find it difficult to distinguish between Harrison's voice and that of Anne's adoptive mother. Anne's energy and verve project well, as does her mother's reserve and aloofness. Rapid violin music denotes chapter breaks. Timeless and sweet, this is a keeper. A.G.H.
